Some Videos

One of the greatest things about studying photography is the almost limitless instructional material available online.

As we really start to understand the basics of photography, now is a great time to watch some professionals at work. For this assignment, watch the following two videos (you can watch them in small groups or all alone). After watching both of the videos, post some of your thoughts in the comments section for this post (click on "awesome students" at the end). Feel free to respond (respectfully) to comments that other students have posted as well.

The first video is Photographer Dave Hill shooting an ad for Verizon IN A PARKING LOT.

The second video is a photographer named Robert Seale shooting an artist at the South by Southwest Music Festival.

i was really impressed with how much thought went in to taking these shots, especially with all the lights and what angles they had to be and every little detail with the light just amazed me. Cool Cool!!

THIS IS A CLASS COMMENT!!!!... due to technical difficulties

This video showed us alot about lighting and what you can do with it to improve you photo. It al
so show us how to prepare to take the photo. Even though this video was really boring we all really enjoyed the photos that were taking and the differneces you can see that the lighting made. It was hard to understand what he was talking about at time because we do not know what some of the insterments he was using were called and what they were used for. The video was really planned out, it shows that we can not just go out and take a photo, we need to plan it out.

Love you 4th hour A day class! hope you have fun in vegas....
P.S. What happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas :-)

- 4th hour B.
The Second Video was really long but had alot of information. Some of the kids also decided that photography has alot more to it then they thought. You can tell where the lighting is in the eyes and lighting is very important. Lighting plays a bigger part in photography then we first thought also. Lighting can make or break a photo. Planning the when and where of the photo could help the turn out of the picture. The subject was interesting and they used her creativly. The video was a little bit hard to follow, they should of demonstrated more and if they would of follewed it with a video it would of been more intersting to watch. The information was quite a bit more advanced then our level, we could of used more backround.

I was amazed at how much they focus on the lighting and the many different techniques used. Thinking about every angle of light was interesting and I hope i can learn to be that aware of the lighting.
